Ferries to Amsterdam from Dover

Unfortuantly there are currently no ferries from Dover to Amsterdam.

Dover may well be the busiest passenger ferry port in England, however it does not have any ferries sailing to Amsterdam. In fact it has currently just two passenger ferry routes sailing from Dover, Dover to Calais and Dover to Dunkirk.

So if you are taking the ferry from Dover to Amsterdam, then you have three options.

Drive 3 hours in Europe….

  • Catch the ferry from Dover to Dunkirk
  • Then drive 200 mile north to Amsterdam

Drive 2 hours in England / 1 hour in Holland

Drive 6 hours in the UK.

Obviously when you thought about catching a ferry from Dover to Amsterdam you may well have not realised about all the other ferry ports in Britain. So it all depends on where you are coming from, If you are in Scotland, leaving from Newcastle is your best option, if you are in London, then Harwich will give you the shortest drive, If you are in the midlands, then it may well be decided by the flip of a coin.

Prices are based on cheapest one way journey – Book as early as possible for the cheapest fares.

If time is a factor than the dover sailings may well be the best, your car can go quicker than the ferry so the much shorter 90 minute sailing from Dover to Calais or the 2 hour sailing from Dover to Dunkirk will likely reduce your overall travel time.
